When checking valves the briggs manual states that first you must set cylinder 1 valve 6 mm past TDC compression stroke .... what does this mean exactly |

Means put #1 at 1/4" past TDC on comp stroke prior to setting that side. Same on #2. |

You can also open valve cover, turn motor over by hand, ie wrench on prop nut. Watch the rockers as you turn over, one will cycle then the other. Turn slightly more until you can feel the play in both rockers. They can both be adjusted now. You can also put a wooden dowel into cylinder and watch until it starts back down off of top dead center. |

That's the way I set valves on every 4 stroke engine I've ever touched. TDC compression. Easy to hit with the plugs out with a wooden dowel or a screwdriver if you're careful. Roll it up, set both rockers, move to the other side. |
