DIY Mikuni kit
Just a heads up. Amazon has the Mikuni HSR42 easy kits for $288.92. (the kit came with a 20 and 25 pilot and also a 160 and 165 main) http://www.amazon.com/Mikuni-Easy-Kit-4 ... kuni+42-18I've been building my own carb kit to come out cheaper than purchasing a premade kit. Carb - $288 2.3 Needle and Seat - $23 Cables - $7 (walmart) PVT Intake adapter - $100 Rubber Boot - $22 Extra jets (162.5 & 167) - $10 Air Filter - $20(amazon) Mikuni Choke Cable - $30 Viper Racing Air Filter Adapter - $20 ~$520 right now. Put it all together yesterday and the engine starts and idles great. I think the 165 is a little fat for my motor (only gutted stocker). Going to try the 160 and see how she does. Just wanted to give some other people a heads up on where to get a good deal on the mikuni.

And it really didn't take much looking around either.

Re: DIY Mikuni kit
At 288 plus 23 for needle and 20 for choke you are at 331 $ and the boat dr will sell it to you ready to go for 350 and usually has them at my door the next day

Re: DIY Mikuni kit
Sometimes the convenience of a kit is worth it! I just did a Big Block (CDI Marine) Stage 1 Black Death Performance System on my GTR35. I have remote side console and the only thing that wasn't direct fit was throttle cable but with a Dremel tool and a little careful trimming on cable end and drilling one hole, adjusting cable travel on console throttle assembly it works great!

Re: DIY Mikuni kit
Im sure glad that people are finally starting to shop around. I did this exact thing about 3-1/2 years ago and the people on here though I was satan for even mentioning it. Fuck, convenience? Just because they threw in some nuts and bolts made it another $300 - $400 dollars. I said it then and I'll say it now, there screwing and preying on the stupid. With just a small amount of shopping around, you can save big time money. Not $20-$50, I mean $100's.

What did you PD guys use to connect the throttle cable to the arm that comes off the back of the tiller?

Re: DIY Mikuni kit
Im doing the same for my 23
TM 32 - 32mm flat slide $130 but a round slide which is in BPS Kit i can be had for $100 from amazon if you wanted to save a little more $
black death intake, bps throttle lever and throttle cable $180 shipped
K&N filter RC-2880 $40 from amazon Rubber flange adapter $20 from amazon
So $370 aint bad at all considering i have a better carb and the upgraded throttle lever the only reason I spent $40 in the filter is to hopefully use my stock gutted exhaust. Still save almost $400 as well and could be done for under $300 if you wanted.

Several things to do. You can get a barrel or you can make one using an allen head bolt. Drill a hole through it and run wire with a crimp. I used 2 crimps for just in case. 3 years later, no problems.
