What should average top speed be with only me (180lbs) in the boat? I'm only getting about 12mph. Motor is stock.

For reference I get 26mph with a 1546 ModV with a 27HP MB Mini with me 250LB and light load.

I would think you should be seeing much better speeds than that. How much weight you got up front? Does the boat squat a lot when at rest? Are you trimmed all the way up? Any idea how many rpm's your turning? My brother's 1436 has a 23 LT on it and its doing 19 with two people.

I have a stock 23hp mbsd on a 1648 with a hooked n dented hull and I get 16mph with 2 guys and 19mph by myself. That's trimmed almost all the way down at just over 3400rpm's.

A longer boat is better. I didn't have a go devil but my 23 hd stock was a lot faster on my 1744 that it was on my 1448. 2 guys empty was 19-20. Two guys full hunt load was 13-14. 1744 2 guys 75 lb dog full hunt load grass mat blind 18-20 mph

You should be in the low 20's for sure. Planing surface on a 1648 and 1744 is about the same and I get 25+ on my 1744.

He's never gonna get good speeds when he runs his motor trimmed all the way down. It's a surface drive. Motor can't hit optimum rpms and speed when someone who doesn't know how to drive a mud boat is on the tiller.
