Is there any you wished you wouldn't have done? I'm wanting to do some mods to a newer gtr, but I don't want to drive it a couple times, and have to work on it. I want a motor that will Fire up the first time, and go. What do I need to do to stay conservative? I like the idea of heads carb cam exhaust. What's going to far? Thanks for any pointers, As I'm looking to do these mods soon. |

The general consensus across the board is that mods make these a little more reliable since you have sealed valves and flatter and truer heads. It's a gamble with these either way |

You want good power and not have to tweak with it often, I say shave the heads, change Camshafts, and open up the exhaust. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

Mine runs strong with briggs parts , nice heads, intake cleanup , carb tweek and mildly gutted pipe. Much stronger than stock , starts great. |

The important part is paying somebody to do the mods that knows what they're doing |

I can tell you this about mods.. And let me make it clear that it is only my opinion. I was in limbo about doing them or not. This is my 2nd mudmotor and i have always been stock. I had a mb 23 and it NEEDED mods to be able to perform as i needed it. I now have a 2015 gtr 35. Its on a 19'3" boat and it does great. I recently went on a ride with about 8 other mud boats and most od these guys had mods, and also smaller boats. We all took off up the river, and the modded boats were indeed faster than me, but not by much. Not by near enough for me to spend the money to mod my motor. At the end of the trip my max speed was 25.1mph on my gps with me, wife, and son. There was 1 pro-drive there that apparently had jet fuel mixed with redbull in his tank doing over 30mph,the rest were only a couple mph faster than me. Maybe i got lucky and got a strong motor? Also... To conclude my rant... A lot of guys on here have, and work on these motors as a hobby, and theres nothing wrong with that, they have some cool rigs. I, on the other hand, have a bass boat that will do 70mph,and use my boat for hunting and backwater fishing only. Mods help, they give u a little sleed, and more power... But I'm happy with what i have. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

I had 4 adults, 2 big coolers choked full of beer, 3 batteries, 2 22magnums,a 75lb hog, and a bag of peanuts it it and could still touch 21mph in the shallows. That's good enough in my book Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

I'm not disagreeing with ya brick... I know mods are better. Mods are like **** on steroids. They are bigger, faster, and stronger. Just depends on what you NEED and if you like having a hobby of tinkering with motors... I know enough about them to be able to fill the tank with oil and change the gas Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

I hear you on that... I think briggs has an assembly line of crackheads. Somedays they throw the shit together decent, and somedays they run outta crack and say fukit... Lol Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

I believe doing the carb heads and exhaust would really surprise you. I ran my last motor 1200 hrs before I sold it. And the guy is still running it. Now Briggs always needs TLC especially the stock carb. My boat has a lot of mods in it and I have 200 hrs on it. The gains for me was a top speed of 37mph and loaded with 4 people ice chest and all the works she will still run 32mph in deep water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm gonna hafta call bullshit on 37mph unless it was a motor on a flip-flop... But i know this guy and he does good work and is trustworthy. |

It's probably harder here than anywhere.. I've hunted out of state in Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi, and I've hunted north to south in Louisiana. The problem here is pressure on the ducks, we've probably got more duck hunters per capita than any other state. There is a coonass on every levee in the state come duck season and that's what makes it hard. Plus by the time the ducks get here they've been shot at since they started migrating in Canada and have seen and heard it all by the time they get here. |

Bama just sucks in general. Not in the flyway path and we got plenty of duck commanders out here shooting what little divers we get |
