Post Mercury Trim Reset
Guys,

Was just messing around with my trim switch and all the power went out on it. Just installed the new switch and one of the prongs under the switch is loose but still attached. There is still no power going to the trim now. How can I check/ reset that circuit breaker? Im pretty sure it's on the side of the motor under the electrical plastic cover but which one and how to reset it or should I buy another trim switch? Wanna try and reset it first. Thanks.

Circuit breaker should reset itself. Switch relays are on tiller side of motor one for up one for down. I 'd try going direct to trim pump with 12v jumpers to make sure its OK. Have seen Mercury trim pumps go bad causing circuit breakers to trip. Had to replace a Mercury trim motor on a MB last month magnets in motor came loose locking motor up. Replacement From Amazon.com Merc #809885a $123.00. Hope its just the rocker switch its avalible from amazon also.

I took the electronics cover off and put my hand on the relays. I can feel them clicking internally when I press up or down on the rocker switch but no power. Battery is charged, motor will crank, shifts into gear. You think that rocker is the issue? It's brand new and only the one red wire prong is a little loose (power to the up control on the motor) but still seems to send signal to the relay. How can I wire directly to the trim pump to test?

Also right before this all happened the trim was acting slower than usual. I hope it's not the motor.

You will have to find the two wires coming from trim motor and disconnect them form circuit breaker and ground. Then hook them up direct to a battery, reversing polarity will allow motor to run pump to up or down position. If pump fails to run either direction it is probably bad.
