 Kohler 25 EFI
Hi, Does any one knows how to bypass the fuel pump on a Kohler 25 EFI. ?? My Backwater rig has one of those and I had to take it to the local Kohler dealer after only 32 hours because the fuel pump was not working. If this happens in the middle of the Everglades , it won be funny. Any tips ?
thanks P.B.

 Re: Kohler 25 EFI
If your EFI is the Delphi it has two pumps. One is a low pressure/high volume lift pump to feed the injection system. That could be electric, but more likely is the mechanical pump mounted on the valve cover and is the same one that is used for the carbed engine. The other pump is the injection pump to send high pressure fuel to the injectors. If the lift pump is bad it can be replaced with an electric or in an emergency you can feed the injection pump by pumping the fuel bulb. The injection pump is electric and if all the wiring is OK it probably needs to be replaced. I doubt you could develop the required 45 psi by squeezing the bulb. Let us know what the fix is.

 Re: Kohler 25 EFI
After 2 1/2 weeks I have the motor back, it is under warranty and the replace the High pres. pump. According to the dealer mechanic it is not very often that happens; the only way to solve the problem if it happens again is to have a spare ( $200 ) pump on the boat. Good hunting. P.B.
