Go-devil gearbox
What the hell happened to the Go-devil with the gearbox and lever shifter? haven't seen or heard of much info on it lately. Only a short video from a distance. Did and does it work well? Reliabliity?

Re: Go-devil gearbox
Still in testing as far as I've heard. They haven't broken enough associated parts to consider it ready for market. There will have to be other changes to the unit as well besides just the gearbox before it is ready to sell I believe.
If I understood correctly, they wanted to break multiple belts and shafts with the reverse mechanism staying intact before they felt good about selling it. If it takes another year or two that's fine. When it hits the market as a Go-Devil engineered and produced part, you know it will be reliable and tough as nails, just like the rest of their existing drive unit.
I'm just as interested in the changed to the boats as I am the motors personally.

Re: Go-devil gearbox
It has its disadvantages in some scenarios, sure. But the positives far outweigh those as long as the hull is taken proper care of. Not to mention the legality issues.

Good deal. Just haven't heard any info lately and wasn't sure if they canned the project.

Re: Go-devil gearbox
The guy in the bib overalls told me his son, Lance, is doing a lot of the reliability testing and he can break a new anvil. I don't need reverse on the Yukon River, but when he puts it on the market I will be confident of the reliability.

Re: Go-devil gearbox
I would assume there are a few out there getting beatup to see how they hold up. I sure wouldn't mind testing one instead of wearing out my own motor.
