GTR 37, i need to remove it from my transom. I do not see any lift points on the motor. There are 2, what appear to be lift points, near the valve covers. i assume this would be just for lifting the motor, not the frame and drive. I know someone has experience with this, advice would be appreciated.

You can use those points to lift the entire frame.

I used the points you speak of to lift it off and and put it on a stand with no issues, but not sure how well they would hold up of you are looking at leaving it hanging from those points. Just my .02

Mine bent when the engine was lifted off with them. I go through the frame below the motor now when taking my gdsd off. A regular engine stand works great for storing it when it's off too

Yeah they'll bend a Lil to the inside the first time, but leave em bent and use em.

The are a lot stronger than they look.

That's how GD totes them around and how I was told to pick it up I ever had to. I've taken mine off the transom a few different times and always used them. I made up a lifting cable with two small shackles and a ring in the center. It picks the whole unit straight up off the transom, they hold it no problem. That's why they're there. I was told by several people NOT to use the brackets on the heads. Those are for the powerhead only. Those bolts are small, thread into already crap aluminum heads. They weren't meant to hold the weight of a frame too. I have known folks to pull them out of the head and have to helicoil the holes.

Emailed Gatortail to get to the root, not sure why i didn't do that to begin with, confirmed the liftpoints on the head will support the entire unit.
