 Gator tail rock guard
Is this skeg considered the rock guard for a gator tail? Not sure what the 2 holes are for either.

No. That is a regular skeg. I am almost positive, the holes are used to clip a bright colored flag on so cars behind you see it. I could be wrong though. Also looks like there was something there to beef up the skeg, or help with tiller torque.

 Re: Gator tail rock guard
Yes. They used to sell an aluminum rock guard that bolted on there. One of my motors has one with the same bolt hole pattern...

 Re: Gator tail rock guard
the rock guard isn't listed on GT's webpage. Do they still sell them? Is there an aftermarket company that I could get one from?

 Re: Gator tail rock guard
I don't think they well them any more. I could be wrong.
I have one on an old 2008 model gator tail.(All torn apart ready for rebuild...) I think they were called a rock/sand guard.
I took mine off and drilled holed and put a piece of .25" flat stock below the prop to protect mine from the rocks.
Its removable wit 4 1/2" bolts for when I don't need it.
Sorry I cant be of more help.

 Re: Gator tail rock guard
This is the picture.
It bolts on with 4 bolts and is easy to take on and off.
I only use this for when I run rocky rivers or the ice is very thick. (Keeps the prop from getting too wild on 6" ice chunks.

 Re: Gator tail rock guard
There's some Russian on YouTube that has a rock guard with two fins sticking off each side. It's huge
