 Re: Lectron carbs?
And I haven't done too much research, but it does look like the "power jet" on the lectron is there to kinda do the same thing mikuni does with the accelerator pump. A feature you did not have with your mikuni on your 23, that you admitted on the other thread was never tuned properly. It's a much different way of going about it, but both features are there to help on the bottom end.
I don't particularly care one way or the other. I'm sure they're both good carbs and don't care what anyone chooses to spend their money on, but you aren't really giving out good info about the performance differences, IMO. Especially considering you have not even run the two carbs being discussed in this thread, you're talking about a completely different engine and setup all together.

I know you better be ready to wait. I've been waiting for over 3 months for one from delta. It's always something when I call them....don't have plenums, waiting on boots. I placed the order before duck season started, still nothing.

 Re: Lectron carbs?
I think the guy who started this thread wanted info from someone who had run both carbs on a big block briggs. Something neither you or I appear to have done. You're just blowing smoke, spreading mis-information at best, and complete bullshit at worst.
You're telling the guy basically hands down one carb is significantly better than another,. You haven't even run the carbs he wanted to discuss. The carbs you did run, you've already admitted one of them was "100% not tuned properly", and the other carb has a circuit specifically designed to help with the problems you were having with the one that wasn't tuned, aside from simply just not being tuned. Both of the models that the OP is asking about have something to help with bottom end response. Again, apples and oranges man.
Doesn't really matter what I run. I'm not trying to convince the guy to buy one or the other. I have not run both, so I'm not gonna make up some story about which one is better.

 Re: Lectron carbs?
You were, however, caught saying it was tuned correctly on one thread, but not correctly tuned on another. How are you not trying to mislead? Or are you just forgetting what's accurate and saying whatever you want on each thread to steer each OP how you decide to at that time?

 Re: Lectron carbs?
for whatever it's worth i'll throw my two cents in on this carb discussion. i have tuned lectron carbs for years on my bike dyno. they were originally designed for "race only" applications but people have used them in other applications with different results. they are a fine carb when used correctly. it's not fair to compare these with the mikunis and keihin carbs because they are designed for totally different applications. as one of the other members said, apples to oranges. one thing to remember when comparing carbs also is that once the slide is wide open, the engine doesn't care what brand name is on the carb. a 34mm hole is a 34mm hole, regardless if it's a flat, round or whatever slide. i have run this scenario many times and the top end results were always basically the same if all the carbs were the same size.
that being said results with the different carbs with the slides not in the wide open position can vary greatly. lectron carbs will idle to some extent but can't possibly compete with idle and transition quality with carbs that have replaceable slow jets and movable needles. idle quality doesn't really matter much on a drag bike sitting at the starting line. lectrons are simple and easier to use which is why i suspect some people use them but they are really not the best choice unless all you wish to do is go race your boat instead of idling around the marsh and swamp.
on the other side of the coin the mikunis and keihins can be somewhat hard to tune at first. once you get it right it they will perform great. for the guys with the afr tuners it is hard to get jetting right down low because you can't load the motor like a dyno would do or vary the load to check jetting and needle positions. granted it is way better than no afr tuner at all. also for the ones that use a clip in sensor at the tailpipe, those are only good for wide open throttle as any other throttle setting lets too much outside air back into the muffler and gives way wrong readings. they call this reversion, and is particularly bad for the engines with cams other than stock. the bigger the cam, the worse the problem. i'm not trying to push any brand carb over the other, just trying to make people aware of the differences. all of them perform good when jetted correctly in the appropriate application.

 Re: Lectron carbs?
Still would like for some one from delta to see my post.....don't think they're too interested in taking my hard earned money.

I know someone that used to work at Lectron (it's down the road from me). With that being said I'd be leery of them.
