Post 60 hp outboard opinions
Im looking at getting a 60hp outboard for my 18x48 for fishing and watersports with my kids.

Here are my choices.
#1 Honda
#2 mercury
#3 yahama

I've been out of the outboard game for many years. Any opinions or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Suzuki has the least amount of displacement. All others are very similar in the 60hp.

I think in that hp range everything you mentioned is a fine motor. Any suggestions of one over the others would likely be rooted in brand loyalty and less about one truly being any better than the other. It's a good size and brand choice for your stated intent.

I have known several people with yamaha and they have had good luck. A major deciding factor for me would be which has the best dealer to get it repaired because I don't care what brand you buy they all break. In my neck of the woods it's hard to get a honda repaired.

I am looking at the same but the yamaha 70.

I am.more thab likely going to get tge 60 mercury.

I got a price of 5900 on a merc 60 a few months ago. The honda 60 was areound 6500 and the yamaha 70 was 7800.

The crawfisherman in the st martinville area are swearing by the honda. The crawfisherman around the Morgan city are are using the mercury. The honda is a bit smaller and lighter.

Main thing ease of getting service and parts is why I went with Yamaha

I know the guy at Iberia Outboard personally runs Honda when he sells mercury and yamaha also.

If i was to get a honda id get one from him. If I get a mercury i am going to get it from Supreme Outboard in franklin. I was looking at the bigfoot lowers and i think the weight was within a few pounds.
My cousin Nick has a honda 90 and likes it. I believe youve met him before with TJ

They are all pretty equal in my book. Which makes it a hard decision. Honda is the quietest and most fuel efficient as far as what i am told.

Quietest and most fuel efficient, maybe or maybe not, but you're splitting hairs with that. They're all very quiet and fuel efficient. Best service that's most convenient to you, price, warranty, and any extras should truly be your deciding factor.

That Mercury Big foot is great for heavy loads like pontoons. IMO either Mercury or Yamaha, Honda is higher price for what you get and no any better or worst than the other 2. It an opinion for the most motor for the least money.

I've alway been an evinrude fan. I owned about 4 of them in the past.

The whole 2 stroke thing steers me away from them. I plan on swapping from GT to outboard and want to use the same tank.

You use the same tank. It has an oil tank. It direct injects whatever mixture the computer tells it to. It's not your grandfather's 2 stroke.

Nah. Until you mess with them, you don't know. I think they've been oil injected since the original ficht, before the etec. They were the first direct injected 2 stroke outboard, I think.

Nah im an idiot. My last johnson i bought in 2005 was oil injejected. Im just looking for something new.

Im probably going with the honda. It comes with a 5 year warranty. The dealer near by me does a little business with me, so thats most likely where im going.

Fwiw I know guys are starting to crack the computers for merc, tohatsu and yamaha. Making mods more possible in the future. On the other hand, why mod something with a 5 year warranty? Oh wait, we do that shit all the time lol

I plan to get the atlas. I like how the bolts are on the outside frame instead of the inside. Will be easier to swap motors. Lots of boats come from the factory with a Atlas

Atlas Microjacker is where it's at... As I mentioned in my original post never had a single issue with it.

So what motor did you end up with? I ask as I'm considering a outboard for my gdsd. I'm a Yamaha man so that takes care of which brand. What are the Yamaha F60 cost? I was just in La and had planned on stopping at H&M but did not due to time schedule.

I haven't bought yet but im still strong on the honda. Some unexpected more important stuff came up. I priced 2 diff honda dealers. 8200$ and 8400 out the door with prop and controls. On yahama I only priced one and was about 8300$

Honda has 5 year warranty vs 3 on yahama.

Ran this 70 for about 4 years before I sold it, Im still kicking myself in the ass for selling it. It would run just as good as most mudmotors if it was soft mud.
