EFI VS. CARB
So, is the jury in that the EFI's are now the way to go? All the bugs worked out, basically? Getting ready to pull the trigger on a new one and curious everyone's thoughts

Re: EFI VS. CARB
I am hoping my 40 lasts till the warranty goes. then I will just get another. lots of electronics on this new motor, but it hasn't acted up yet. not a fan of a elec fuel pump either.

Re: EFI VS. CARB
I'd get EFI for where I live (I currently have a carb). Carbs suck for me operating in wide temp ranges.

Re: EFI VS. CARB
My boy has a 37 GTR XD with EFI. Got 2 and a half years on it, frogs, bowfishes, and hunts constantly. Don't know the hours on it but it's a chunk. EFI has held up perfectly and has no issues for him. Mine so far has been excellent as well

Re: EFI VS. CARB
It mostly boils down to..... are you mechanically inclined? If you are in a pinch and something goes out or wrong, can you fix it. The only issues that you hear about on carb or EFI are the ones reported. How many of them have issues on both sides and are repaired, only not to be reported on this site. I've been on here way too long to know a few things:
1) GTR coolaid is extremely strong on this site. 2) PD's are slow, in the eyes of the rubber band crew (pulley ratio changes make a huge difference) 3) GD...... well its a GD (in the eyes of the certain few) 4) MB is absolutely prohibited to talk about. 5) mikuni's suck (coming from the guy who can't tune one) 6) efi sucks (too new and again coming from guy who knows nothing about efi) 7) I'm running 33.2, but I'm running 33.7........ does it really f'n matter? 8) remember when all else fails........ITS A LAWNMOWER ENGINE !!!
So you have to take everything with a grain of salt that you hear and read.
