Upgrading to a 2072 sea ark mv question on motor size?
Upgrading to a 2072 from a 1754... 2072 is about 250 pounds heavier and my question is would my 35hp gdsd push the 2072 almost as fast as it does my 1754? Bigger boat distribute the load better despite the weight increase? I'm hoping to be able to run at least 23 or 24 mph with a couple guys and decoys? My guess is NO! But ... hey you never know..

You can try it but I'm sure you'll be less than impressed with the results. The mv bottom is going to be your biggest performance killer. Why not an outboard on something that damn big?

I'd try it first, if it's no good...then do something.

Your best option would be a 90/115 Yamaha outboard. I have had a gdsd rig since 2005 with long tails prior. As told to me by dead animal a mud motor needs to go on a mud motor boat to work effectively and efficiently . Over the years I have seen a lot of disappointed guys who put mudmotors on boats other than mud boats.
