Post 2010 GTR Trim
Just got a 2010 GTR it is having trim issues trim works while running and will work periodically when on trailer... sometimes you can tap it make it work. Wiring seems ok is there somewhere to add hydraulic fluid or is it just crapping out??

Can you hear the motor trying to work and it's not moving, or are you hitting the trim switch and no sound at all?

Sometimes . But I can tap the unit and it will take off, this makes me rule out the switch and think it's inside the unit that a problem...... loose wire or motor going bad???

If its the old CMC trim unit they are bad about hydraulic fluid leaking into the motor. You can rebuild them but you would be better off buying the new style. There was a thread here somewhere that someone did a rebuild on one.

Here is the rebuild thread.
I think a new unit from Gator tail is around $550.

I rebuilt my cmc a year ago. Pain in the ass, but it is still working... for now.

ibfishinb what keeps the oil out of the motor? Is it maybe some orings that are easy to replace or do you have to tear it completely apart. Maybe its something he could patch up to keep running for a while.

I just added more oil because mine cut out as described above while at caddo. It's needs rebuilding, but haven't taken the time to do it yet. It's a temporary fix, but might help for a bit.

I've repaired numerous of these and brought them back to service life.

It is a bag full of assorted size o-rings. Calen sold me a rebuild kit for it. Take pictures as you go and take your time.
