 GTR 40XD transom angle and height Pulled the trigger on a brand new gator tail and the sucker is a beast. The boat is an 1860 southern duck boat. Will run 29 empty and 27 with 3 guys. Picked up almost 10mph with a load compared to my 36 prodrive. Only problem is the motor is whipping my butt. A lot of vibration and tiller torque.. I’ve messed with the bolt on the bottom to raise and lower the motor but not really seeing a difference. Boat has 20 degree 20 inch transom. Any ideas?

Re: GTR 40XD transom angle and height Hahahahaha ....., hahahahaha..... Yeah, should have stuck with the Prodrive. Everyone and every boat I personally ran had the same feedback other than the koolaid crew that speaks "i'm faster than you" and really talking bullshit. It's hard to beat a Prodrive for true every day performance and reliability. Drives like an outboard and not fighting a tiller steer.
It'll happen one day. No guess when but eventually the koolaid will run out.

Re: GTR 40XD transom angle and height The tller torque is solvable with trim and skeg adjustment. The vibration is a primarily stock prop balance issue and a Briggs thing secondary. The prodrive issues you were having weren't a brand being inferior. They were a combo of engine issues, gearing and prop being right for your boat and loads.
Will, the prodrive is fine, has its pluses, but it has negatives too just like the other frames. I do love the koolaid posts from each brand's fanboys.

Re: GTR 40XD transom angle and height Still really impressed with the motor.. reverse works better than expected and pushing a boat that size almost 30 mph is pretty impressive. The way It’s handling can’t be normal. Getting a lot of water splashing straight up the transom while running, almost like the motor is sitting too low.

Re: GTR 40XD transom angle and height It’s got two small hooks in the hull about about 3/4 of the way back in the dead center. Haven’t got around to pulling up the floor to knock them out. Who does the best work on props?

Re: GTR 40XD transom angle and height Before i'd spend money on prop work, i'd fix the issues with the hull / maybe transom.
You say 20" transom.
Is that the length of the transom from top to bottom? Not taking into account the 20* angle?
Or is that 20" from top of the transom straight down?
this could be an issue if your transom is 20" from top to bottom of not, and not from top to straight down.
If you're picking up what im putting down.
