Experiencing backfire inside the intake. Anyone had this happen before. Motor is 2013 36hp with the Prodrive EFI E2 kit.

As they said and while your checking the valves make sure you have full travel of rockers,,'meaning the cam isn't flat

Re: Prodrive EFI E2 intake backfire
Is a compression test the only way to check if the valves are seating properly? Anyone in the Gonzales/Prairieville area have the tools to do it?
I checked the valve lash using instructions on the BPS website, all set at 0.005. By rotating the flywheel all rockers appear to moving like they are supposed to.
Could intake gaskets be a cause? Is there a good way to check this?

Yes an intake gasket can do it. Remove cowling and inspect around where the intake bolts to heads for a missing piece of gasket. A leakdown tester is used to check for valve seal

Re: Prodrive EFI E2 intake backfire
Intake gasket leak or intake VALVE leak. Typically the culprit of a lean pop/cough out the intake
