My HDR 37 has a lot of valve tick when cold starting in the winter months until motor warms up, currently running regular briggs oil. What weight oil can I run in the colder months to keep this from happening? |

Shell Rotella 5W-40 synthetic would be good in the summer as well as winter. |

I run the same oil in the winter as I do in the summer. 5-30 synthetic. Do as others have mentioned and check your valve lash. I don't recall EVER hearing my valve train ticking on any mud motor i've had in any temps, unless my lash was to loose. |
