| Post subject: | Can I use a surface drive from another motor on my 25 kohler |
I have contacted a few mud motor companies about purchasing just the surface drive without the motor. A few of them (copperhead & go devil) will sell and install if i bring the motor to them. My question is, can i find a surface drive that isn't for the kohler and mount my kohler motor on it? I'm sure there are some crankshaft sizes that may vary which could cause me some problems. |

I also spoke with a Go Devil sales person and they said they doubt the Kohler motor I have would run with a surface drive? They said Kohler ended up coming out with an updated version of the 25 HP due to it locking up bearings from the side torque that the belt created on the surface drive. I gave him the spec and serial number from my Kohler. He will let me know tomorrow if I have the “right” motor. |
