Post subject: | Fuel Starvation issue on Generac 33 horse |
Hello Guys, I hope you can help me out here with a solution for my fuel issues on my 33 horse generac beavertail. Boat runs great when going with lighter load (probably 650 lbs) but when we toss in one more "bigger" person probably another 300 lbs the engine will run great for about a minute and then goes into fuel starvation and dies. If I move real qucik and pump the ball 2 times before it dies it will take back off. The engine will also do it when we get hung up on sandbars and have to really lean on it to get over them or when we load and unload the engine bouncing on the bottom in the shallows it does it more there too. So a fuel starvation issue is pretty obvious. But now I want to know what would be the best remedy? I am just running the stock generac diaphram guel pump that is on the motor. I have heard they are kind of junk to start with. Does anyone know a better pump I could use that would mount up like the generac one or should I just run an electric pump on it? I would prefer to keep it as simple as possible and still have it run the way it should when we get in the hairy spots and need all the power to get out. P.S. if it matters the boat is a 1648 lowe big jon |

I run a Facet electric. Used to be called a Cube, not they call them posiflow or something like that. Good e pump. The Mr gaskets will work in a pinch and are easy to source at an auto parts store. 1-4 psi, 25ish gph is what you should look for. As far as a diaphragm pump, someone else will have to chime in. I didn't bother when the one I had turned out to be busted. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

I have a facet 2-3 psi electric pump from another project new in the box sitting here. But my concern on that is overpowering the needle and seats. Do you run a regulator or will the stock carb be able to take those pressures? I know it is a low psi but don't know what these smaller carbs can take at a lower rpm or idle before they load up? |

I'm running a Briggs 35, when I had to run the stock carb for a short period, it didn't overflow. The stock fuel pump wont be far off on psi, but the gph may be more or less than the facet. Try it. It'll either overflow or it won't, but it won't actually hurt anything. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

I had a generac and needed an electric fuel pump to run it. Although it wasn’t a stock motor |
