Wondering if anyone has ran into the same problem im having. I have a 2009 gatortail non cdi gatortail that i just got back from delta performance a couple weeks ago, i had a new block new mikuni carb new cam new coils new vodoo exhuast and heads done. Ran good first 2 trips and today it started popping and sputtering mostly at half to full throttle on acceleration. Seems to run ok after held wide open. Delta closed this week so just trying to check a few things. https://youtu.be/cNt7GFXVuBg |

You're not bouncing off rev limiter, are you? |

Check the wiring on the limiter. Good clean power and ground to limiter box. No rubbed wire on low oil pres sensor. Or just unplug limiter for 1 test. Also check carb to boot seal, Ive seen a few get loose and go lean. Lower intake leak, valves settled now and too tight... adjust check? Fouled sparkplug, sparkplug cap arcing on heat shield. Random guesses |

No they forgot to install the rev limiter still in the box. My rpm at 3900 in the water at wot. Heavy boat |

I checked carb to boot, taped up spark plug boots too make sure no arcing, intake is tight. |

That does eliminate the limiter... check spark plugs for lean condition. Are you comfortable checking the valves adjustments? |

Also what about disconnecting the kill/ safety switch just as a check. Could have water in switch or.. |

With only 2 hrs I doubt valves are an issue. Try the kill wire disconnect. Hope u find something easy |

With only 2 hours, I would definitely check valve adjustments. If they weren't torqued to spec and sometimes even when they are, those jam nuts can loosen up. Also, the rocker bolts can back out. Not common, but happens even when torqued. Will listed everything to check, and don't assume it's all good because it was just worked on. Something small is causing that issue, and tight intake bolts don't mean the intake gaskets are fine. Under load, that's definitely a potential culprit, as is the carb having trash in it somewhere, spark, etc. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

Mine was doing that recently. Intake was loose. I tightened the intake and still had an issue. I then replaced the intake gasket and changed the plugs, checked valves (They were fine). Problem went away. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |
