Post subject: | Short or long transom?? |
First post, here for advive... Looking to get out of my 50hp 4-stroke in exchange for a mud motor, pro drive, gtr mud buddy, etc. I have a Havoc DBST that it will he mounted on, but am a little lost on the difference between short and long transom mud motors...is there a way I would measure to know what I need?? Amybody running a similar setup on edge or havoc hulls and can provide some input. |

Depends on what size hull you have. If you have a 15-16' hull, you will want a tall just because of water coming over the back if you slow down to quick. Short transom will be in the 16" range and tall will be in the 20" range. If you cross under bridges or anything and don't want your motor too high, short transom, but if you've never had a mudmotor and will have a motor with reverse, you will probably want a tall transom. |

Top of my transom to the bottom of the hull is 19-20"...the havoc step transom hull has about 15" from transom to the inside of the boat, basically the length of the pics that are on the stern sides |

Then you need a tall transom motor. |
