I've got a 23hp van and I'm on my 3rd diaphragm pump in 4 years. They keep pumping fuel out the little hole on the top and motor runs itself out of fuel. Is this a common problem due to ethanol fuels deteriorating the inside or am I blowing a leak in it priming the line with an electric fuel pump I installed because my tank is located in the front. The pump is only a 2-4 pump. Couldn't find anything on this in a search. |

Either do away with diaphragm pump or electric one. No need for both. I have never run an electric fuel pump and the only fuel problems have been air leak and a primer bulb leak. Your electric pump might be what is causing diaphragm to start leaking, if your tank is not vented and it swells up it is putting pressure on that diaphragm also. |

Got it. Thanks. Do you think I can keep the electric pump just to initially prime the line still since I removed the primer ball? |

I’d rather have the primer ball than the electric pump myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

use the primer bulb to prime, and either the electric or the diaphragm pump to feed the engine. I use the Facet solid state e pump (posi flow, used to be the cube). #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

primer bulb and diaphragm pump. E pumps are not needed and are bandaids. |
