I have a friend who keeps having the Briggs case gasket leaking issue. First one at about 100 hours and cracked rear cover. Second leak about 150 hours later. Now about 150 more hours another leak and another cracked cover. I was told you could machine the timing gear and cam to eliminate the gasket, is this correct? Or do you machine the cover for the clearance for the cam and just do the gear for the crank end play? |

Also has anybody tried welding up the case cover? It has a crack on filter side at the bolt hole with the dowel pin. |

I know different folks do it differently but I machine the crank gear and the cam boss in the rear cover. Then I deepen the oil feed groove and chamfer the edges. To save headaches I would grab a new cover |

What frame is this motor on? cause there are other issues that need to be taken care of to! |

Pokey I think it's a 2011 or 2012 GTR. What other issues should I look for? Will, do new covers come with the proper clearance to go without a gasket or do you still have to machine the gear and the cam boss in the cover? |

The new cover still need work. It's the blocks that are cut deeper on factory wet gasket motors |

Thanks Will for the info. Pokey I saw where you posted on a thread a while back about some parts on a dual rig that had sunk. Do you know if he has a rear cover for sell that is good? |
