Fuel water separator
I have zero experience with them and after reading about them I decided to install one. I wasn't sure what to expect. With the install complete, I primed the engine and fired it up. It ran fine for a few minutes and then bogged down. I had to keep squeezing the primer bulb to get fuel to flow. I looked at the inline fuel filter and it was all foamy, instead of clear fuel. I checked all connectors to make sure no air was getting in the line. Of note, I did move my gas can under the deck, so the fuel line is longer and still at 1/4 ID. When I disconnected and bypassed the F/W separator, the foam disappeared and the engine ran fine.
Has anyone experienced this? Should this happen with a new filter? Is there a break period for the filter to get soaked?

Re: Fuel water separator
What brand filter ?
I always just pick up the tank and give it a shake with vent closed to prime the lines and filter as it is hard to get the bulb primed otherwise...
But never seen any foamy fuel in secondary filter... Cartridge can be unscrewed and dumped to look for foreign materials and filled with fuel and reattached...
Also smaller diameter lines work better than larger ones on a long fuel line...
