I am looking for some suggestions, my GTR 35 has 200 hrs and for some reason struggles to get up on plane with light load. RPM’s out of the water seem fine but under a load i can only get 3,100. Any help wohld be appreciated .

Valves could definitely be the culprit, not a bad idea to check them periodically.
It could be a number of things though.
Swap your fuel with good fuel and run some sea foam through it.
Also check for air leaks or leaks in the fuel line.

Yeah I'm voting either valve lash or valve leakage. Get a leakdown done. Might be time to get the heads worked.

I did have compression checked and both sides were good, changing plugs next then going to check valve lash. What are thoughts on timing?

It's fine. Check valve lash first, and when you say good, what was the compression?

Good compression doesn't mean you don't have valve leakage

How do you check for valve lash and leakage? Is this something that's easy to do?

Get a set of feeler gauges at autozone for $6 then follow this Valve lash: https://youtu.be/mH73IdavxzI

Leak down will require a leak down tester. May want to just go to a local Engine repair shop and pay them like $60 to do that quickly for you.

Ill put money on 20-40% leakage from the intake valves
