I'm on the fence about getting the billet performance cam for my MB 4400 HDR. The motor has 80hrs on her, and the only thing I've done is upgrade to a slightly bigger oil cooler that's it. Would like to hear from anyone who has done this and/or any pros or cons to doing this. Figured I could get a little more out of this amazing motor and have some money to spend... what do you think? |

Depending on which cam, you will see some differences. I personally wait till the case starts leaking. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

You should ask for some specs and an explanation of what they mean with your builder. I like to use smaller Duration camshafts with a Tighter Lobe separation to increase the overlap where its desired for the mid range torque pull that us mudboats really appreciate. That on/off the throttle is where we need them to shine.. Also on a hunting motor you want easy lift and closing ramps to keep the valve train stable. Note if you put a cam without heads sure you will feel a boost in power, BUT limiting the airflow with the cylinder heads is the choking point. |
