What are the benefits of lower hp if price isn’t an issue an
I’m looking at getting a gatortail.
Outside of price what would be the benefit of a 35 hp over the 40? I believe the 35,37,and 40 all weigh the same and I understand what I can afford but would there be a time when you can argue it’s simply too much motor in terms of hp?
Dropping it on a 16x48 gatortail with a timber deck so 17x48 overall.

As far as hp don't think the 40 would ever feel like too much hp. I would say the the only advantage to a 35 is that it's still a carb motor . For the man that wants to wrench on it himself the carb motor is the most straight forward.

If I’m not mistaken, a gator tail 16x48 will be a 16x48 even with hunt duck. They don’t add to the length like gator-Trax

Terms of boat handling HP you should be ok with the 40 hp on a 1648. I run a moded MB 45 on a 1648 hull with no problems.

I thought the same. I saw the original invoice and they called it 16 though it’s 17 tail to tip and wlf registration lists it as 17

The main benefit of lower HP motors is "IF" you hunt WMA HP restricted areas. I know CLF is strick on modded motors. Not even aftermarket exhaust.

No such thing as too much hp. Just decide if you want a carb or efi. You can always modify either.
