Idle rpm
What's the ideal rpm at idle? Mine is hanging around the mid 800's. Should it be a little higher than that?

Re: Idle rpm
Splash lubrication. I suggest neutral idle around 1250, which (depending on carb) should put in-gear idle around 950-1000. No, it might not sound as cool as a slower idle, but I'd like everything get the oil it needs rather than take any chance it won't. I can trim the prop up to slow my speed in water.

Re: Idle rpm
Efi or not, the lubrication didn't change, did it? That only changes the effect putting it in gear will have. My opinion doesn't matter much, but the man asked lol

Re: Idle rpm
I can make an EFI idle at whatever RPM I want, Its more than just opening the throttle screw. There is a method to setting the TPS to tell the ECM its at "idle". 1250 is about spot on no load for good lube of the cylinders and camshaft.
