20181202_100743.jpg This oil came out of a 60 horse Bigfoot Mercury 4 stroke motor. This is what it looked like after settling overnight. I was wondering why it might look like this. I put some in a glass jar to settle overnight also. I did not see any water separate after sitting overnight. The motor is only 3 years old Any thoughts? |

Ya. The more it settles the more you can see the water on top. The oil I put in the jar has a distinct line forming at the top now. I was going to put it in storage today, but decided to drop it of at the shop. |

Good that you caught it - likely just a head gasket... Compression test should show which cylinder is the culprit... |

Turns out it was a bad thermostat. Engine was running cold allowing for condensation. The EFI was feeding it extra fuel as well. You could smell the gas in the oil. |
