Thoughts on either engine? I’m putting some pennies away to swap out my 27 hp for either the 37 efi or new 40 efi for my prodrive. I want to know what anyone’s opinion is regarding if I should go for one over the other? Is 40 a lot better or will I be just fine with a 37 hp?

If you don't plan on modding your motor or doing just small things like exhaust, the 40
Is the much better choice and will give you better performance. If you plan on heavily
Modding it, just save a little money on your powerhead and get a 37 and send it to
Marcus or Will and get it built up

I've got the Mud Buddy 40 HDR Anniversary edition and I love it. I had a modded Pro-Drive prior to this one and was constantly farting around with stuff and chasing small problems and was just tired of it. Went with the 40 because I wanted the similar power to what I had but on a stock motor. The Anniversary HDR comes with the BPS Q muffler and K&N air filter, but otherwise it's stock. Moves my old riveted 1848 at a consistant 30-31, even with a hunting load. Very happy with the motor.

So what is the Kawasaki motor that you’re talking about?

My new rig this year is a 20/54 3/16 bottom and 1/8 everywhere else. Pushed by GRT 40 all stock. I might put a Q on it but other than that I'm happy with it. 30mph alone and 26- 27 with 3 man load. Jumps up decent also. I have not played around with props either...just have the 2 blade that came with motor. This is a no brainer....just get the 40

Longboman I’m impressed! I think I made up my mind a bit ago to get the 40 and that’s what I’m planning on doing! Prob get it in March which seems so far away!!

I recently went from the 36 brigs to the 40 on my old pd. so far it's been money well spent.

Ole boy that bought my rig dropped a 40 EFI on the frame....claims he’s getting 36 mph. I don’t know what he’s getting going the other direction....

Kawasaki FX921V or FX1000V

Which ever is cheaper. Usually the FX921V is.

If you want an elephant toting beast, deck heads .050, little port work, mikuni and keep the stock cam and stock valves. It will flat out eat till about 4450 rpms. We played around with cams if you want to go that route. It is much cheaper to mod the kawasaki than the briggs.

Look up "let the gook times roll" thread. Lots of information concerning the modding if any of the Kawasaki done by myself and several others.

I ran my 40 briggs today at 4800 +- for a solid hour. didn't blowup or act stupid. spent the rest of the afternoon chewing thru lilies with it banging on the revbox. lol. only 30 hrs or so on it, but it's a beast.

Today I hit 32.3 with my GRT 40 all stock. I just got the valve lashes checked and tightened up. The fastest I've been was 30.5 this is a WC 20/54 3/16 bottom. Beast of a boat. I was alone but my boat is loaded out. 56 hours on motor. This thing keeps on impressing me the more I use it. I hit 29.5 with a 2 man hunt load a few weeks back. If I play around with props and exhaust wondering if I can hit 35?? I'm not modding this engine.

Do an exhaust, air filter, cut skeg, and a dialed in prop after you put that skeg and I'm sure you will run the same I am running without messing with the motor at all
