Post Fuel pumps not coming on
I have a 2015 Briggs 37 EFI Gatortail engine. When I hit the key, the pumps do not come on. It spins over but the plugs are dry. The relays and fuses all check out ok and the fuel is triple filtered and flows freely to the engine fuel pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could be a pump but if your sure that both pumps are not coming on I would look at the safety lanyard switch and wiring. When the wire to that switch is grounded it tells the computer to not activate pumps. Also try shoving on the wires under the relay box. The harness could have an issue which is somewhat common. Let us know what u find

I will add that you should check for fire at plugs. If you have fire then u have verified that the computer is awake and the crank sensor is talking. Use caution when checking fire with plugs out. You are making a spark and can have gas spray out of spark plug hole

My friend Buster's laptop died but I can answer for him. When you tunrn the key on, both pumps should run for 2 seconds. Nothing. We have spark but the plugs are dry after cranking. The engine was built in Feb 2015 and from what I have been reading, it may be a a junk harness. I guess we will call Briggs tomorrow and ask them about any recalls. Thanks!

My friend Buster's laptop died but I can answer any questions. We have spark but the plugs are dry after cranking. The entire fuel system is new and we are getting fuel to the engine but not with pump pressure; just using the ball. 'The pumps should come on for 2 seconds after the key is turned. 'the motor was built in Feb 2015 so we are going to call Briggs to see if it is a harness problem. Thanks for the help!

Circie D said they ordered a new harness and it might be a warranty job.

The boat is fixed and it was a junk harness. It took out both pumps. no charge thank goodness.

well I drove the boat to the boat house and it ran fine(5 min run). A few days later I could barely start it. when it did start, you could smell the unburnt fuel and it would die if I gave it any gas. They told me the fuel pump in the front of the boat was bad so they changed it. When I told him the boat never did run right after the warranty job, he didnt charge me the $250. Once again it made it to the hoist ok but the next day the battery was dead. To be continued.......
