Post New Kohler 60hp ?
Skimming internet and seen this posted on one of the newer mud motor companies website. Not saying anything about the brand of mud motor but does anybody know anything about a lager kohler power head putting out 60hp. That's impressive numbers and a game changer if it's stock motor.

I dont know anything about that 60hp Kohler motor, but I know there was a 40 Kohler they put on some mud buddys a few years back. They didnt pan out, i think the torque wasnt there for this application.

Maybe they have addressed that... or maybe its just another new manufacturer trying to get out side the "box"

I had a 27 GDSD Kohler and it was a great motor, but it was a small block and just didnt have the displacement we / I needed.

I've never owned a kohler on a mudmotor but if this a new stock 60hp engine I'm interested to see what it can do

It's not a stock 60hp. Kohler doesnt make a 60hp lawnmower engine, nor does anyone else. If they did, you wouldn't see it for the first time on a mudmotor from a tiny company. It would make zero business sense for Kohler or anyone else to not start with the big 4 if they wanted to prove its worth and get it onto the market.

I just called river run. The guy I talked to was super nice.
The motor is a 38 kohler with mods done by river run. It also has a performance tune for the efi. Don’t remember the width but he said a 16’ boat was running 39mph. Didn’t seem super impressive to me. No testing has been done on any bigger.

The reverse is what sounded interesting. Some of you guys may understand it better that me but it’s not a gear box or a clutch system. He said it’s an electric motor. I know I’m not giving much info but that’s how he explained it. He said in their testing it was more reliable than the other two.

He said out of the box (stock) it is a very stout motor and designed better that the Briggs. Others can shed more light on the comparison as I don’t have a clue.

The exhaust is ran on the outside of the frame down into the water. I told him I hunt where there are a lot of floating logs and drift wood. He said I may not want that application but rather keep the exhaust above the water. I like the quiet option but not if it’s gonna get ripped off.

He said they were the first ones to get their hands on the 38hp before anyone else.
All in all it sounds interesting but it is way to new for to buy one. They have been around since 2007 but didn’t get into larger motors until 2010.

Don’t shoot the messenger.
