I have a Prodrive 32 on a 1756 mod v hull, I know not the best hull for a surface drive but I think I should get better than 8mph upriver with a light load at 3850rpm. Motor is stock besides marshmellow exhaust, prop is right at 12" new is 12 3/8" I am told, I am looking for some reasonably priced mods that can get me moving a little better than this is open water. Will the Mikuni carb make that much difference? Any insight besides buying a new motor or hull would be appreciated. |

Valve job....best bang for buck.... I’m sure somebody will disagree, though. It’s inevitable on this site. |

Unless you have a few beached whales in the boat, you should get more speed than that assuming the prop is decent. If so, then you very likely have leaky valves, which is common on a Briggs. New valves is around $100ish depending on who does the proper 3 angle valve job. If you are already doing that though, pull your heads and get an entire job done by Marcus (maxxis) or will c for around $650-700 and you’ll see a major difference. If there is a mechanical issue though robbing you of power, that’s a different issue all together. FWIW, my 35 when stock had ~40% valve leakage at 40 hrs... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Valves are almost certainly your main problem. As others have said, get with either will c or marcus and have your heads worked. Also get Blueshamu to send you one of the 50 or so carbs he has stashed away. |

A valve job and a 36mm mikuni will do well. Head work and a 42 will do better. Headwork, cam, and a 42 will.. you get the idea. Do some reading on this site, you'll find out all about the options, who to get to do the work, what to expect, etc. And yes, even the differences expected between the work on a 32 vs the 36 with the longer stroke. #CFFITR #GhostBoat #Whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

My Boss was a little on the slow side. I got Boat Doctor to put heads and a tuner on it, I ran a smaller blade and it solved My issue. |
