 GTR efi wire question

Post GTR efi wire question
25 EFI Subaru GTR. Neutral/start switch has a black wire going back to the ECU. According to the Subaru diagram that is a coil ground. I can only find Briggs diagrams by GT online.
Why would a coil ground be run from the switch on the tiller handle box all the way back to the ECU? This is the only wire I can’t figure out.

I’ve been studying the wiring diagram a little bit. It looks like the previous owner put the ground connector with the black wire from the kill switch over on to the neutral start switch.

It also appears that the neutral start switch is wired incorrectly. But it still works?
