23hp with mikuni rev limiter questions
Hey guys I have two questions.
1- Which rev limiter (4700 rpm or 5000 rpm) should I have with the 34mm mikuni carb on my 23 vanguard?
2- why is the rev limiter supposed to be mounted on the transom? Does it have to be mounted there as I frequently move my motors around. Can I mount it to the motor somehow, or loose in a box that is mounted in the boat?
I called BPS a few times but can’t get an answer.
Thanks.

Re: 23hp with mikuni rev limiter questions
Vibration causes rev limit boxes to fail sooner than if mounted on the transom

Re: 23hp with mikuni rev limiter questions
I’d get the lower rpm one if I were you. Carb, heads, cam and exhaust on a 23 on a 1644gd boat and I don’t get above 4400 rpm most times. Unless you’re on a real light boat I don’t think you’d turn that many rpm. I like to think less rpm means less time to failure.

Re: 23hp with mikuni rev limiter questions
The 2 options that i know of are 4400 and 5100. To small and too big. I use the big one. If using a stock cam it will probably sling the decompression arm off anyway lol
