Post Gator Trax?
Been looking around at duck hunting rigs and I am pretty set on the Gator Trax gator hide. I hunt the backwaters of West Tennessee and I think this would be the ultimate rig for my style of hunting. The only problem is I have not heard anything about them. Just wondering if anybody has hunted out of one or knows much about them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Every review I've seen on them is good. Think there is a couple on here. There's a few over on the mb website too. I run one of the older pd boats that was built by gator trax. Only had 36 hours on it when I bought it and it was flawless. Been through two seasons in these N texas stump fields and holding up pretty well. Its got a couple nice dings in it, but for what I've put it through I'm pretty happy.

Got two of them in the family. One is a Guide 1650 and the other is a 1650 with huntdeck 17'8". The regular 1650 is my dad's and has a 40 hp Merc and mine with the huntdeck has a 36 PD. Love both of them. Kent Saxton over at Gator Trax is great to deal with.

Both of the boats have extended decks removable rear casting decks two batteries and and both get around 22 to 27 miles an hour with two men and a dog. The PD is running 23 mph right now but I don't think the motor is quite right. Been offshore so haven't had enough time to tinker with it yet.

If you are using it for duck hunting only go with the hide. If using it all around I'd go with the Guide edition with Huntdeck.

Gator Trax sells MB motors but you can get any motor you want. They will get with the motor company and make sure everything match up.

Like I said great guys.

i love my hide. make sure when you get a motor it has enough hp to get that big girl moving. she's heavy but performs very well in the mud. i've got the HD 5000 and i'm getting 32-33 empty and 30 loaded down 3 men, dog, dekes, all the gear. it's very stable and when i pull up at the prop stop all girls want to get on it, haha.

I have a buddy who has the Gator Hide, and I hunted out of it last year. It is a great hunting boat. I love the low profile. if you are down in the lay out position, you are only shooting what is in front of you though. But if you need a low profile hunting rig, there is nothing better IMO. It made me want to trade my GT 1750, and go for the hide. Only if they made a CC. I am spoiled now, and it is hard to go back to the tiller! Other consideration is whether or not you hunt in lakes that get choppy. It will be a wet ride due to the low sides, but it is a very stable boat!
