Does anyone on here run HID spotlights or fog lights on their boat ? I was on toledo bend today hunting n a guy had n air boat with 4 KC daylighters that were HID's and they were bright as hell.
Need thoughts and preferences on light set ups!

There is a whole thread on this, in particular how to modify a Halogen light to an HID, but I just bought the Vision X Duralux HID's and I ran them over the weekend. They fit perfectly into the Gator Trax stock lighting brackets, and they were very easy to install. They worked great for the opener, I was really impressed. They absolutely lit up the marsh. I went with one Euro Beam (4400), and one Flood (4411). They do take a second to warm up, and flash like X Mas tree lights for about 5 seconds and then they stay on. This is a little annoying, but they are awesome lights. I haven't had the time, but i am going to look and see if they have red covers for the lights.

I run the modified HID's on my boat and really like them a lot. Like SP said, they'll really light the marsh up and will easily light everything up withing 300 yards or so.

I've never run them in fog so I couldn't tell you but they're so bright I would imagine they'll light up the fog so much you shouldn't be able to see through it.

Woodie, I spoke too soon about not running in the fog. Saturday the fog was so think on Lake Okeechobee that I could only see about 10 yards in front of me with these lights on. I then turned them off and used my hand held spotlight and was still only able to see 10 yards in front. It was a long slow ride to my blind that morning and I would've never gotten there if it wasn't for my GPS.

I was also right about them lighting up the fog too much. It just looked like a white cloud in front of me with the lights pointed slightly up. As soon as I turned them down towards the water, I was able to see a lot further. This was also in the main canal on the way to the mud trails, on these trails I was able to see about 50 yards in this thick fog. I guess it's because they lite the saw grass on the sides so well that I was able to speed through.

Put red lenses on those lights and you can see even better in the fog. Had 4 1 million cp spot lights mounted on the bow of my boat so I could put yellow or red lenses on them just for the fog. It made a hell of a difference.

Inside to change it from dc to ac current
