Post Square vs. Tapered????
Well, I ordered my new hull from Brother Breaux. The waiting is killing me! :x

I went with a 2054 square chine. I've been running a 1848 double taper Prodrive that turned very nicely. The problem is it drafted more water than I would have liked for the areas I run (hard sandy bottom, mostly) I have very little experience with square.

Another thread got me thinking if I should be going with a tapered chine instead of square.

What is the difference draft wise gonna be approximately? Will the tapered turn alot better or is there very little difference?

I'm sure with some time I will learn to drive the square, just second guessing my decision a little I guess.....

Thanks.
Adam

IMO you did right by going square. From my experience of owning a double taper and riding in lots of square there is really a minimal difference between the 2 when it comes to turning. With a lil bit of stick time you will be able to run a square just as good as the tapered chine.

Hope this helps.

ur new rig will be night & day from ur old one in drafting.... but mainly because it's 6" wider & 2' longer.... not so much because of da chine.

If drafting is ur biggest issue, then u did right. It'll just take a lil' drivin to get used to da turnin.

With a boat dat big do you really plan on doin stunt manuevers anyway?

Adam.........

Don't be getting shaky yet......at least wait until you pay for it.

If you get in a bind just laugh about it.......you will get the hang of it.
FYI.........if you think 300' of strap will be enough take an extra 500'....

You come to Caddo Saturday and you can see what your be getting into.

Later

Dat boat will have one hell of a beam on it. I wanted brother to build me a 1754 until I seen the flare he puts. I decided to go narrower to a 48. Nonetheless with a 20' boat you will have buttloads of room with the wide floor and beam.
