Drop me an e-mail coach and I'll send you some instructions w/ pics on how to build your own hardhat light. Too big to post, bout' 8 pages.

I've made several so far. 100 watts. Cost about $30.00 and will stun a nutria at 100 yards :o

RATS!

Can't get the pictures to e-mail along with the instructions ofr some reason.

Heres the web address where I found the original instructions.

http://www.drundel.com/hunt/hardhatlight/

I've made a couble of these using a plastic funnel. (No rust)
SO FAR they seem to be holding up fine, like they didn't melt.

Nylon bolts & nuts to hold the bulb in are available at Lowes

I got the bulbs from a company called "Aircraft Spruce" Google them on the web. Funnel was from "Ace Hardware" on the web.

Get the bulbs FIRST! If you try to find a funnel locally, make sure that the bulb will drop down into the funnel AT LEAST 1/2 to 1 inches. This allows room for the plastic bolts to hold the bulb in AND stops any light scatter / reflection shining down into the boat and getting into your eyes.
You got to cut a BIG hole in the hardhat for the funnel to fit. Don't worry it WILL work and you ain't gonna mess it up ;)

I got the toggle switch and the nylon bolts from Lowes. Put a rubber boot on the switch, but I can't remember where I got it from

Can't find the nylon bolts? Just use 3 dabs of silicon to hold the bulb in. Easy to cut and peel out when you change the bulb.

Make sure you line up the flilment in the bulb this way ---------.

Good luck everybody, let me know how they turn out.

Check out the HID's I put on my boat.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12884

These lights put out about 3200 lumens each and only use up 35 Watts. A regular group 24 battery can run them about 10 hours before the battery dies.
