Finally got my boat and motor painted with carb and MM exh
Thanks a ton to DB8 for all the painting tips. I figure I got close to 30 hours total in it. I bought it from a fellow MMT member and it was nat gear, I wanted to change it to MOSG. I had the bars welded on front and a grab bar made for the rear. I painted the whole boat Gator Boat Brown courtesy of Gator Trax. That is a sweet color BTW. Then I ordered the stencils for SETX and painted away. I went ahead and added a Mikuni Carb and MM Double Barrel exhaust to my 45 Mag. It turned out pretty good I thought, spent alot of time on the grass stencil getting it to look crisp. Took it for a test ride today, with me and the dog it ran 31.3 at about 4900 rpms, it cruises at 25 at around 4000. BTW, boat is an Excel 1754 Midwest.myboat3.jpgmyboat2.jpg

Re: Finally got my boat and motor painted with carb and MM e
The gator brown from gator trax was $50 for the gallon and it is extremely good paint. They removed the label so you dont know who make it, but it is good paint. I used 6 cans of styx river fall brown, 5 cans of krylon fusion khaki, 5 cans of fusion black, 2 cans of fusion green and 1 can of fusion brown. They were roughly $5 a can, so roughly I spent $140 for all of the paint including the gator brown. I did use a couple cans of etching primer on the bare aluminum. The fusion sprays way better than the styx river stuff.

Looks awesome. I used the same kit on mine and I'd have to agree about the fusion or rustolium spraying better.

It has a brand new big blade on it... that was its first trip out. I am thinking I may have some waterlogged flotation.
