Re: question
Josh, we all know there are plenty of boats out there with NO floatation at all running SD mudmotors. Some guys who have GD boats take the floatation out and run MM. They may recommend it, but there is no way it is necessary.

Re: question
they were talkin bout a box to insert inside the boat runnin across the back where the battery is, they said it would be like a rear deck, but it wasn't supposed to hinder the operation of the motor, i cant give up no floor space

Re: question
Its probably a liability issue. They have to at least suggest it. I tried to put a 175 outboard on a bass boat rated for a 150 and got the same type of suggestion from the dealer I bought the boat from.

Re: question
I've got a 35 GDSD on a 1644 GD boat. Nothing special done and no problems-yet. You should be just fine with a 1656 I'd think.

Re: question
I'm running a 16X56 with a 35 GDSD. No issues for me.
