Re: 14x36 hp rating
I had a 14' x 36" alluminum skiff wit a 18hp GD LT on it and it handled da weight fine you could probably go as high as 23hp but I wouldn't go any higher than dat.

Re: 14x36 hp rating
It's been a while but if my memory serves correctly I was gettin bout 20 mph wit just me (170 lbs), battery and 6 gal of gas. Wit 2 people (170 & 190 lbs), dog, 2 doz decoys, guns and ammo for two, battery, and 6 gal of gas. I was gettin bout 14 mph. I would recomend goin up to a 23hp.

Re: 14x36 hp rating
If you plan an runnin a godevil on a rivited hull period, dont plan on dat hull lastin long. Rivits just don't hold up to shallow water operation.

Re: 14x36 hp rating
my 13hp will push me, dog, buddy and minimal gear 10.5; with my buddy's girl friend im looking at 7ish..didnt have the gps out ( i Know waaaaayyy to much for a little riveted 14) Ill be upgrading in the very distant future as a stump almost did us in the past weekend lol. It won't take but one more hit like that Bent the braces all the way through the lenght of the boat, esp up front I agree with the rivets not holding up, at wot the boat is flexed halfway in the middle. I wish I had gone with a bigger hp....wasnt thinking when I bought it, but time you add the extra weight of the two gallons of gas on the transom it weighs the same as the 16/18 LT... My boat would not be able to handle the 23...it would disentegrate within the first 100feet

Re: 14x36 hp rating
i'm running a 20 long tail on a 14/36 riveted jon. this is the second season and you can tell, i have a few rivets leaking. my motor is around 200#, with me, my buddy and the dog plus gear. we get about 14 mph in deep water and around 17 running at the surface. you got to careful turning at an idle, you can swamp the boat real quick. but to answer the original question alumacraft for that model says 15 hp max

Re: 14x36 hp rating
Throw some pods on the back and let er buck. When the hull shits out buy a new one. They don't sink real fast kinda slow actually you can usually get back to the launch.

Re: 14x36 hp rating
how light made has nothing to do with flotation a 1436 .80 hull will float more than a 3/16 hull would with equal surface area. i jbwelded all the rivets it helped out alot just keep it light duty. but i had a homeade 6.5 longtail weighed like 85 lbs it on a 1230 rivited used it for a little slough hopper i got like 10 mph with me (180) 2 doz. decoys gun and gas.
