Have a Mclean trailer for an 18'44'' GD boat. I probably should replace the hubs on it but have no idea which ones to buy. They sell a bunch of different patterns at academy which is pretty much the only place I can buy them this quick before the season. Anybody know exactly which ones I need to pick up and how to install???

jack up trailer, tap center cap with hammer while turning wheel to remove cap, wipe off greese till you can see the nut, pull cotter pin from nut and take nut off, pull hub off. Take it with you and match. should have instal instuctions in box. (you prob dont need hubs, just bearings and greese though?)

If its a McClain I bet they have buddy bearings on there....

The whole hub assembly should remove in one big grease ball after your remove that spindle nut and the metal retainer.

I think I did a post when I was removing my hubs or had one blow out on me... SOB if I didn't have 2 different type of hub assemblies on there!

Guys, thank you so much for the help. I was kind of in limbo on how to do it. Heard horror stories of hubs siezing up and wheels coming off.

Just put new bearings and seals...Hubs are probably good.

If in saltwater spray hubs, lugs, and axle with green Corrosion X, 3 or 4 times a year. Helps keep rust down. If you have bearing buddies, pop them off and check out axle and see if it has grease zert on end. I would not have axle with out it, it puts grease between bearings, lots better than bearing buddies in saltwater. Just don't over grease, because when running long distance grease get hot and thin and can blow out seal and you are screwed when you back into water.
