My response to Garrryyyy on the other site...

I've asked several questions on several sites and will continue to do so in the future!

And honestly thus far I like the simple lines of the gator-tail boat the best but I'm won't be ready to make a purchase any time soon so I'll continue to pursue all available info as I see fit!

I'll also add that I have seen the excel up close but as of yet I have not seen the short transom and would like to know what they look like. According to commentary they are somwhat different looking than the tall transom.

I also think that Excel could do itself a favor and go with less of a space eating interior design and go with a more strightforward package similar to other shallow water boat designs that would better utilize interior boat space...just a suggestion not a condemnation...

If you happen to know where I can see and ride in a short transom Excel boat in fairly close proximity to SE La. let me know...

Thanks for your thoughts...

Ducaholic you have naggered dis good post up entirely too much. If you want to keep actin like da internet tough guy go start your own thread and do it in da duck blind. BTW where exactly in SE La. do you reside I'm sure Gary has many of close friends dat would be more than happy to fill in for him so dat he does not have to make dis comute just to whoop your azz.

Giving an Ass whooping by proxy is not my style... I've tried to defuse this situation a couple of times already...even offered to buy the man a beer but he keeps coming at me...only one way to settle it now...

Come on guys... everyone knows Ducky is smart!   If he wouldn't have told me, I wouldn't know I couldn't hunt 5 out of my own boat! According to him, I can't even hunt 3!!! He saw the boat so he knows all about it right? I know for a fact he didn't see mine cause it's the only 1860 shallow water f4 there is that I know of! The only thing we can do about people like him is laugh at them! He is just completely jealous of what other people have, and he has to down their equipment because of it!

The guys at Excel make some of the finest duck hunting boats on the market! Ducky, if you don't like them, how about starting your own boat company and making them just the way you see fit? From the looks of it, not many people on this site like you. So, who does that tell you is in the wrong??

Post Re: Huntdeck
Now, let me try to add some actual useful information to this man's thread. I do not have a huntdeck, and I have never ran one. However, several friends have, and they all swear by them.

Also, be careful on the length. Some builders count the length of the HD as part of the hull size, while others, like Geaux, add it to the overall length. An 18 foot Geaux with a HD is actually more like 20'.

Pros: dog step/seat
man step
workbench while servicing motor
moves flotation out of interior
may plane better
keeps splash out of boat

Cons: may be too long for garage
may have to order custom trailer to be long enough

Hope that helps you bro, and sorry for jacking up your thread, but this guys bull shit has gotten old quick.

Stated well Joey... And my boat does get on step FAST! Another con of the huntdeck would be finding a place to mount all your hydraulic cylinders for something like a pro drive. It can be done tho! I did it. You just have to use your head and think about stuff.

The huntdeck is great for the person who wades a lot. It is SO easy to get in and out of the boat with the huntdeck! In my opinion, it's the way to go for serious duck hunters.

Another thing I just thought of, the shorter controls on a PD might make it harder to reach or control with a HD. The tiller is WAY longer on a MB, and that might be easier to get to with a HD.

Very well thought out Joey. I did have to get a 12 inch tiller extension for my 36 PD.
