well im thinking about getting a new boat before hunting but wanted to get some input before i buy. So do yal think that the gatortail boats are the way to go? Or are they a lil to hevy was thinking bout the 1752 xtreme. but is there another boat out there that will take off in reel shallow water and able to control it.

x2 on nunc-j but you can check out all options.....give a couple of the custom builders a call and tell them what you are looking for and take a ride to gator tail and do da same.

Phowler boats are the best out there hands down. Work well in shallow water as well as deep water.

GatorTail does make a great boat. but there are several others that make just as good of a boat. what motor are you wanting to put on this boat?

Borel Boats of orange Texas makes some fine boats, thats what i am running!:)

uncle J and Rick Aucoin build some of the finest, best running custom boats that you will find. but no one can tell you what is best unless we know what kind of motor you have. anything most people will tell you on here know what they are talking about. and im sure will set you up with the best boat that will suit your motor.

i am not a fan of PD boats or GT boats or any of them although they are nice, in my oppinion they dont perform as well as a custom boat.

You can check out Gator Trax boats. Doesn't get much more custom than that.

if you're looking for a boat builder who will build something more custom, I would have to recommend one of the smaller companies like aucoin or unc J. Gatortrax will definately do whatever you want and I'm pretty sure gator tail is flexible with their design. other companies won't budge, like go-devil. good luck

I gotta say I respect the guy that owns phowler coming on here and defending his brand respectfully (I thought) and tastefully. Makes me respect the company more. BUT to come on here IF this fella does own gatortrax and just to post that about the boat he makes.... Says a lot about the company to me. To me if I were a builder I would let my product and customers do the talking and LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY what they had to say because ultimately they will make you or break you.

a long time ago, a guy by the handle "kman" was on the refuge. he was i beleave in the military or just got out or was stationed in the pan handle. now this is all from memory, but he had contacts at a fab shop and bent up a boat. he posted it on the boards and asked opinions on it. got some input and bent a couple more. next thing you know hes callin them gatortrax. kinda likr unc-j is now.

about that time i got busy and didnt go on line for several years. well next thing i know these boats are being carried as a line by mb. seemed like he made a bis of it. last year i see him on the tv has a show.

just seemed cool to see someone do it, and know how they got started.

Hunt4deer, that guy didnt have anything to do with Gator Trax. After he built a boat he was trying to sell it on the classifieds and listed it as a boat built like a Gator Trax.

We do however have a show on the pursuit channel now though. Tune in sometime.

Guys, I came on here because I like to talk mud boats, it's what I do, what I've been doing for 11 years now. Thought it might be of some use to somebody. I didn't come on here to argue, or to be cursed at.

Owen, you are just upsetting all the "custom" boat builder's aren't you? Good thing you have brother around, huh? Although I'm sure what brother builds is no where near the quality, or nearly as customized as what gator trax or phowler would offer...
