 Re: 1744 WC Custom
Don't take work if you can't complete it in time or when u say! I bet guys don't have boats promised to them by duck season when ordered in time according to Pete! I know one man that just got told I can't promise you a boat by duck season so I won't built it! See now that's the way it should b done with honesty

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
I also have not been a fan of mb since way before the sport v debacle, so it is not out of character that I did not come to their defense. I didn't really participate in the constant battering, and actually thought most of it was pretty childish though. I mentioned that several times too..a bunch of guys bitching about missed dates even though they had nothing on order...you are doing the same thing as those guys though....right now.

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
I just mentioned ab a guy saying no to a build u the one having the problem! I wasn't saying Rj is better then Pete others then he was up front! U are only defending Pete bc he is a sponsor on this site as others!
SO NEW MEMEO TO MMT U CAN'T TALK ABOUT SPONSORS ON HERE!!
Your right I don't have a dog in the fight and neither do you!

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
Apple for apple y'all say Pete has another job not his only one, same as Rj... Both boat builders! Only difference one is a sponsor and one isn't!
And I have meet Pete he seemed like a nice guy but what had happened had happened and bc a fella answers questions he shouldn't get bashed!
And I'm not mad just think ppl shouldn't get bashed for telling what has happened

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
Wc custom boats is a full time operation. Pete has another job, but the shop runs when he isn't there. There is a much bigger difference than one being a sponsor and one not. Rj would likely have some growing pains if he stepped up to a full time operation also. Bought a bigger shop, hired full time employees, had a six month plus backlog, etc. Would they be as bad? I don't know, depends on how long it took to adjust to the amount of business these guys are seeing right from the start up. Would they have a material delay, would he fire his entire crew, would they be down a welding machine for several weeks? Who knows... Others have done better, but others have done worse too. I think pete cares and wants to get it straightened out. If they never get caught up, things will natually play themselves out.
I never said people shouldn't tell what happened either. If people want to share THEIR OWN stories, have at it. I didn't knock anyone's personal experience and never said anything should be swept under the rug.

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
you can't compare a guy that takes em one at a time on the side to a full time operation with a huge backlog. No matter how you try to justify it, it just isn't the same thing.

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
My comments have nothing to do with pete being a sponsor....I have no problem airing laundry about bad experiences and said nothing negative to those who shared their experiences. Speaking of sponsors, why aren't you one? You sure do like to recommend your products on here an awful lot. Maybe ol tb needs to put u in bancamp with that other helmet wearing jackass.

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
doesnt matter what you say or how you compare it. new business, old business, small or large, 2 or 10 employees. No boat on this site should take more than a week or two to build as far as fabbing a complete boat. (assuming you have all materials, which you should if customer pays up front)... from the time you lay materials on the floor to the time you put it in the water for a test run. If you put in an HONEST DAYS work and concentrate on one boat at a time. Especially when you have a full time operation... thats the whole point. I dont care if its pete, or any of the other builders. Man hours are man hours. When you have 2 to 4 guys working for you, not counting the owner, boats should be goin out on a weekly basis. PERIOD. and Yes I can say this with confidence because I have seen it done and I have worked in a fab shop for years, and now I'm building my own boats.

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
I would agree with all that for the most part, dirtnasty. I just know how quickly shit can get out of hand when you have a large backlog. I don't know all the specifics on all these situations, and never claimed to. All I was stating is when you have a large backlog with dates stacked on top of each other, it all rolls down hill. A one week setback on two or three boats, shifts the entire line back. If you have personal experiences to share, share them, if not, lets give pete some time to dig himself out and get caught up. Hopefully they are learning what kind of shit can go wrong and will be changing things to try and prevent them in the future. I can only imagine trying to get a new business off the ground and being hit with a rush of customers that would make your headspin. You believe you can make it happen and start lining them up. Hit a snag here, everything pushed back a week, another snag there, another week everything gets pushed back another week, and so on. Hopefully they will learn how to prevent those snags in the future, and learn to build in some extra time in future builds. When building custom one off boats, shit is going to happen that slows things down. Can they figure out how to minimize those things in the future is the question...right now, they're already in a hole, lets see if they're able to get out and how they bounce back...

 Re: 1744 WC Custom
With one person working on a hull. Fully welded floor, catwalks, back storage, storage in deck, and hunt deck.. Average of 6-7. 8 hour work days. So, average of 50 man hours.
I've seen simple layouts with no catwalks, factory gunnel rails, no boxes, and rivet floor take about 20 hours.
