Re: 17/54 Gatortail Extreme that slides.
Every extreme boat that I drove slides. Not near as bad a square chime. That is why I decided to go with a round chime. My friend has a extreme with a GTR with the same mods as me and he runs 29-30 and I am run between 30-33 but where the difference is in a tight curvy canal. He can not stay on the throttle the hole time. He feels the same way as you but that is why if you are going to spend that much money test drive them.

 17/54 Gatortail Extreme that slides.
I think 99.9 percent of people who say they are running such and such speeds are really full of shit!! Just my assumption!! Now before you go ranting about yea I think my boat is this and that! It on it's best day is a 34 mph boat normal water and shit 32-33!! Funny thing though I talk to guys running 32 and I pass them at 29 da damnedest thing

Re: 17/54 Gatortail Extreme that slides.
All other BS aside, is Razr's boat not a sharp lookin ride? I saw when he posted this a few days ago, but it was gone when I tried to reply. That's a good lookin rig, I don't care what's on the back of it. If DHF250 did that paint & rigging, he did a damn fine job at it & I wish he'd come down here & paint mine (for free of course, since I'm now flat broke. lol).
& yes, they ALL slide in the mud.

Re: 17/54 Gatortail Extreme that slides.
This boat is running 23-24 with two people in the middle hole and I ran out of trim. I have not been too worried about running for speed or changing holes, just on putting fish in the boat. Agreed round chines slide in shallow water and mud.

Thats a very nice lookin' rig ... 'cept fo the pointed front end. I just have never liked a pointed front end. Mines naybor gots 1754 Extreme with console and is very pleased with it. FYI ~ We live in the most extreme stump fields of East-Texas. Danny is 68 years old and he can sho-nuff carve up a trail with his with no complaints. He has what I would call the first style of Extreme.
Gator-Tails probly ain't the bestess choice fo some ..... but it's the only choice fo me !!!!
Mines name is Brooks and yes ...... I love drankin' me some Gator-Tail Kool-Aid !!!!
AND ..... One mo thang .... I can type somthin' bad 'bout them as well !!!

with two people in your boat does it still slide? I would not think at 23-24 it would not slide.

Yes it slid with two people in the boat. Will see delta, I was not impressed with the speeds to say the least. Sure do Brooks, it washes right out.

Re: 17/54 Gatortail Extreme that slides.
Just got back from running mine. I forgot my GPS at home, but with me, dog & about 5 gallons of 93 octane, I estimated us to be cruising along at about 65 mph at 2k rpm, then, once the boat was in the water, it got a lil better.

Re: 17/54 Gatortail Extreme that slides.
Rz,
Some considerations to pontificate on:
1. A round chine boat of this size such as a Gatortrax will turn better, but will have about 1'" more of draft then your Gatortail. The trade off is handling vs. shallow water draft.
2. Your Gatortail with the tapered or stepped chine is shallower draft while trying to incorporate good handling, the intent being the best overall approach.
3. I did read earlier in this thread where you had concerns about needing to turn as the bayou you were running was going to flow into another channel. You also mentioned that the sliding may cause you to hit stumps or the bank. This is situation has limited long range site combined with sub surface debris. Sounds like this a time to back off on the throttle.

If it starts sliding jump on the outside gunnel. It will turn.

The xtreme I had never slid an inch, even when trying to make it slide. If I were u I would call Kyle, they always say buy from a dealer because they will make it right when a hull won't perform, if they told u it won't slide and it does talk to them about it, worst they can do is say they not doing anything bout it

I love it when guys on here say, "you should have test drove one"
Like we all live next to a fvckin boat manufacturer and a lake or have buddies with the same boat.
Dont you think he would have test drove one if that had been an option?? SMH

You could take a weekend trip to south la and test out all the ones worth owning. Hell boatdr is down there too so you could even drive a fudgebuddy while you were there if you felt so inclined. If you're about to drop 20k on a rig, least you can do is take your wife on a nice vacation...
