 Joined the Pod Squad!
I put a pair of Beavertail medium pods on my 1652 G3 over the weekend.
I got hooked up with a friend from work who was going to weld them on for me. After 4 hours and several holes blown in the boat, he finally got one well attached and mended all the holes. Not a thing of beauty, but serviceable. After that, we mutually agreed that he wouldn't need to try and weld up the other one!!!! I took the boat home and went with the bolt on method instructions that Beavertail provided on their website. Worked great, I ended up wishing I'd done both that way!!
Lesson 1: Welding them onto a new boat may be OK but an older boat that's been painted is another story even when it's properly prepped. Lesson 2: I also think the newer .125 hulls on the market would be easier to weld to than a .100 hull. Lesson 3: J-B Weld is good chit!!

So you got 1 bolted on, and 1 welded? Take that damn thing to a welder and get the other one welded so it at least looks right. How much did it help your boat perform?

 Re: Joined the Pod Squad!
If it was new, I'd be really tight but it's not and it's just a stinking mudboat! I've got 5 other pieces of waterborne transportation for ducking. An 18 ft. Lund Alaskan for bigger water that does double duty as a salmon fishing boat, 2 Merrymeeting sculling boats, a Carstens puddler with a layout blind, and a 15' camo canoe. The Mud boat is in California and the rest are back in Maine!

Shepabs,
How have the pods affected the overall performance of the boat? Did you get any positive response from them?

 Re: Joined the Pod Squad!
Boat is much more responsive with the pods, quicker off the line. No change in top end with just the dog and I in it but it picked up 3 MPH with 2 people and 2 dogs in it!! Definitely worth the investment!!

 Re: Joined the Pod Squad!
Any issues with the reverse feature or is it still working as it should? (pods don't interfere, do they?)

 Re: Joined the Pod Squad!
Haven't tried the reverse yet, I should have on Monday but it came off raining and we got out of there quick. I'll do it soon.
