i understand if you run MUD FLATS the flat bottom will make a defference. plus the stringers will help the bottom hold up longer. the strenth of the boat will help the transom hold up longer.

but not all people are using mm's for mud flats. there was a comment about no mm will run well on a grizley. thats bs. what if i run shallow water sometime and alot of deep water most of the time. the water is too shallow to run an outboard so a mm is needed. why would you need a flat for that? i personally run a rivited jon. why? i needed a very light boat. i havent beefed up the transom and its just fine. no hooks, no holes, and no leaking rivets.

i run very shallow rocky gravel river. 50 foot shaols for about every 400 yards of deep water. the 400 yards u could run an outboard the 50 foot you would break your ass dragging a boat across.

the mud is a bitch. my boat wouldnt last a week down your way. but it works just fine for what i need it to do.

i think more consideration needs to be made for the conditions when people ask for advise. the dude from califorina may be able to use a welded jon or even a semi vee if needed for the rough water. i think the mm's are far more versitile than just mud, and can be used effectively on boats other than a mud hull.

More power to ya. You can put a MM on a bathtub for that matter but is it optimum? So you use your FE status to advise the next guy that comes along.

Not to start anything (bullshit) but I know of 2 people here on the island that have MB 35's running on 18' semi-v's. I have seen one of them go everywhere an 1854/36PD setup went. Plus we have hard bottoms

yeah I know the semi v's won't do as well as the flat bottoms, but I was impressed that it did that well. Watched it stop on mud and get going again.
