 Raising transom
So my buddy has a short transom boat and is looking for a surface drive motor right now. Hes found a pretty good deal on one but its a tall transom. I'm sure some of yall have raised the transom on your boats before so I was wondering whats the best way to do it? Weld on a piece or bolt on or what? Thanks guys

 Re: Raising transom
Make his transom taller. Take it to a professional welder and tell them what you need done. I'm sure any aluminum welder could do it. The transom is a piece of channel.
OR
Tell John to call MB and see if they can switch his unit to a short. I know they have conversions to go to a tall transom, but not sure if you can go from tall to short.

 Re: Raising transom
Get a jack plate. Bolt to transom jack it up and then bolt the motor to it.
